The mercantile half
The honey is ours. Almost everything else on the shelves was made by someone close enough to bring it in themselves — 17 makers and counting: potters, bakers, soap makers and woodworkers who needed a shop window.
Pottery
Hand-thrown pottery, and the shelf we point at first when someone asks what makes this shop different.
100% of profits go to rescued horses
Sourdough bakery
Artisan sourdough, baked in small batches right here in Sheffield Lake. It goes quickly, so the loaves are worth timing a visit around.
Baked goods & granola
Baked goods and small-batch granola. The granola is the one people come back for a second bag of.
Spices
Cooking spices and árbol chili pods — the same heat that ends up in a jar of our hot honey.
Cooking & baking
Mixes, seasonings and shortcuts for people who like cooking but not at the end of a long day.
Candles & chocolate
Hand-poured candles alongside chocolate, which is a combination nobody asked for and everybody buys.
Good questions
Henrietta Honey & Mercantile at 4650 E Lake Rd, Sheffield Lake, Ohio sells raw honey from our own hives, Tue–Sat 12pm–5pm. We also ship nationwide from our online shop.
Yes. We never heat or fine-filter our honey, so the natural pollen and enzymes stay in the bottle. That is also why the color and flavor change through the season.
Crystallization is normal and is a sign the honey is genuinely raw. Stand the bottle in warm water for a few minutes and it returns to liquid with no loss of quality.
We ship across the United States, from $7.50 for a single bottle, and free on orders over $100. Orders go out Tuesday to Saturday from Sheffield Lake.
Many customers buy local honey for this reason. The evidence is mixed and we make no medical claim — but our honey does carry local pollen, because we never filter it out.
